I have a small knot of jealousy lodged in my stomach over this one. This is the book I have often day dreamed about writing (in my retirement years). A story about realistically flawed people told from the perspective of all the major characters. It is told in the present with pieces of the past described and mulled over to give the story a rich context. It's the perfect mix of dialogue and inner dialogue. The book brings to mind some advice a teacher once gave me: “Remember that you judge yourself by your intensions. Others judge you buy your actions.” I will have to amend that last sentence to read “Others judge you buy your actions AND their projected assumptions about your intensions.” This book does a great job of illustrating that last key part about how someone’s past colors their perception of your words and actions.

It is a very good book. Ambitious and well executed.
