"To Be a Slave" by Julius Lester is an excellent book to read about slavery. It contains everything you need to know about slavery. Julius Lester had put in several stories or journals from people who went through slavery in his book which made his book really interesting. One of the things that stood out in his book was one of the strong things he wrote. I picked out one that ran through my head every time I read or picked up this book and it is located on page 8 on the last paragraph. It states, "History is not just facts and events. History is in the heart and we repeat history until we are able to make another's pain in the heart of our own."

Christina V. Christina V. Wow. What a powerful and meaningful quote. (You should add it to your favorite quotes on your profile if you haven't already). It is very similar to the quote we talked about in Humanities - "Those who ignore history tend to repeat it."

Good review too, by the way. I'm glad you took the time to explain your rating instead of just giving it a few stars.
