really liked it

I chose this book in an effort to learn about Stalin and his reign of terror over the Soviet Union. It was especially shocking to learn of Eugenias story as i was unaware that Communist party members were thrown into jail as well. It was a very shocking story, but interesting to learn about a period of history completely unknown to me. I found however, that my ignorance of russian politics made some of her story confusing and I wished it had explained the politcal terms a little. Also I'm unsure if Genia wrote a follow up to this book as it ended very suddenly. The story was so unfinished being sent to work as a medical attendent for a childrens home, I was so surprised that it just ended there without finding out when and how Genia found freedom and if her husband lived and when she saw her children again.
