I really enjoy all the Harry Bosch crime stories. Michael Connelly writes with a clear no-nonsense style. He takes the story along at a leisurely pace but know how to keep interest and suspense. There's always a few great twists in the plot, but nothing beyond credible possibilities.
Harry Bosch (full name Hieronymus Bosch) is a world weary smart detective working the mean streets of Hollywood. All the characters in these books have real substance and add to the story.
These stories are very male oriented- a bit of the hero against impossible odds kind of thing, but written with real style and believability.
Great for distraction on a holiday or to take you away from your work a day world.
