I'm not really too into reading zombie stuff as much as watching the movies, but this book is a zombie tale like no other. It felt penned by a student from the school of David Lynch more than George Romero in that you get a bunch of dreamy moments that leave you wondering what just really happened more so than gross out brain eating with a thinly veiled commentary on social topics. This book had me rereading pretty decent sized sections to absorb what actually just took place in a few occasions, and not in an annoying way, which I really appreciated.

I guess the selling point would be that this is the author who wrote the 'Let The Right One In' novel, which I have not read. But comparing the movie's adaptation of that book to 'Handling the Undead,' I'd say Lindqvist does an excellent job of reinvention in an already visited-to-death setting (zombies). But his gift to the reader and fan of all things zombie is creating such realistic characters dealing with various sorts of conflict and mourning. ,
