In this, his first major book, Mark Steyn--probably the most widely read, and wittiest, columnist in the English-speaking world--takes on the great poison of the twenty-first century: the anti-Americanism that fuels both Old Europe and radical Islam. America, Steyn argues, will have to stand alone. The world will be divided between America and the rest; and for our sake America had better win.

Steyn has created an amusing but also insightful and at times, frightening depiction of what the world may look like 20-30 years from now. This "Armageddon" book however is different from the regular apocalyptic fare. Instead of a prophecy of missile attacks or demons emerging from volcanoes, Mark Steyn paints a picture of the world entering a new dark age, due to a population takeover by extremist Islam. And all the while Steyn discusses the numerous elements that will play into this "apocalypse", his unmistakable sense of humor never ceases to creep out and keep the reader from becoming utterly bored or depressed with "the end of the world."

This book is definitely not recommended for people who dislike Steyn's newspaper and magazine columns. It is also not recommended for anyone who does not care for "Conservative" jokes. The book is a polarized affair, but if if you can look past the conservative mantra, then be ready to start laughing as you look towards doomsday.
