The Christmas Box is comtemporary realistic fiction written for advanced readers.

The story is set in the 1940's, but the lessons shared are timeless. A quick insightful read full of love.

I rated the book 4 stars. The plot is simple, yet meaningful. We have all missed the true joy of family at some point in our lives. Readers will find that Evans offers an insightful look at the soul of his characters, who in turn help readers look inside themselves. Young adults will find the length of the book appealing and I feel they will be pleasantly surprised by the content of the story.

The book could be used to share with students the spiritual aspect of Christmas. It is also relevant for multi-generational housholds who may be dealing with decline of elderly grandparents.
