Lane Bryce has been coming to the Collins bar every Wednesday night. She is in an unhappy marriage and looks forward to having a glass of wine and talking to Tristan Collins. After making the decision to leave her husband he beats her up pretty badly. When Tristan find out she is in the hospital he rushes to her side. He has been in love with her for a long time and finally see his chance to protect her. But by morning she sneaks off from the hospital without a word. A year later she comes back to town and goes and see Tristan. Tristan is ready to start a relationship but Lane is still very gun shy. When Pop Collins has a stroke they enlist Lane (who is a nurse) to take care of him. Tristan sees this also as a way to break down her defenses so she will see they belong together. Meanwhile her ex makes contact and uses the ploy that he has something that she wants to try and get her back.. This all goes horrible wrong.

Another great book in the series.
