I didn't quite finish this one, but I'm gonna go ahead and give it to myself. I'm pretty sure I know how it ends, and it was starting to give me crazy nighttime anxiety when I read it before bed. The events leading up to WWII were horrifying. The power Hilter exerted over those around him that they would murder political associates was horrifying. The fact that today we have military drones to remove the act of murder another step from reality is horrifying.

Overall I found this book harder to read and less enjoyable than Devil in the White City. A smaller percentage of the characters were portrayed in as much personal detail. I just found it harder to keep up with who was taking action and who was being affected.
