Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)

Okay… I realized by people's comments that I never said exactly what I thought about this book. Well, I loved it. I've now read it four times. Christian Grey ranks right up there with Travis Maddox in my book boyfriend world. This series is addicting. When I need a good read this is my "go to" series. I didn't know what to think about this because I wasn't sure how I felt about BDSM… but this is sooooo much more than that. One of the BEST love stories I've read to date.

i had to fight to make my way through the first one. a little too much for me. the second book however, I couldnt put it down.
I just finished it today and I have to say I was surprised by it on so many levels. and I just can't help but want to shake my head at and hug that darned Mr. Grey!
I loved your book so much that once I read your recommendation for these books I download them straight away! I'm on book two now and can't put the book down! Thank you once again abbi :) x
I didn't know what to think too, it was shocking at the beggining, but at the end of the series it's so sweet too!!
OMG.. i was flustered and breathing hard reading the first book. No one ever warned me. I so can't get enough of this book.:)
i have to say that it was just soo different from other romance novels that ive read before. i always read the same thing. girl falls in love with boy. boy falls in love with girl. problems are solved and they live happily ever after. i LOVE how this book just takes its time. she falls for him quick sure and he does to but its not all LOVEY DOVEY .... THANK GOD!! it takes its time though and it definitely a FIVE STAR book to me. sorry for everyone else that hates it but if you didnt like it, y bother commenting on it? let the people who enjoy it read it and who ever doesnt can just move on....
I definitely have to agree with you. Sure, that's the general make up of the book but there is a lot more in there that it seems a lot of people seem to forget about.
I think you'll find that the correct word is addictive, not addicting. This book features a fairly soft version of BDSM.
It makes me sick to my stomach that there are so many women out there who believe that this is a "romantic love story". If Christian Grey is your ideal man you have pathetically, appallingly, absurdly low standards and need help. Women have spent years trying to remove themselves from abusive, controlling, obsessive, violent men like this and those that don't manage to often end up dead. How romantic.
I think everyone has their own opinion and if you agree, ok, if you don't ok, but don't come being rude and please show some respect. Is my opinion and you don't pay my bills so is not your business.
Lisa I agree completely with you. Having personal experience with actually losing someone (as in death) to an abusive man, who acted unncannily like this Christian Grey, I find it sad that women think they want a man like this.
I was horrified when I began the first book, however by the third I understood what's going on w women loving these books. By the end, my perception of Grey was that he loved Ana like crazy, would give her all he had w/o a second thought, was her defender and protector, was commited to her sexual pleasure, was always honest w her, was horrified at the thought of really hurting her, was always praising her mind and her body, and was clear that she was in charge of what he did with her and how far it would all go . Although it has a consistent sexual domination theme she is in it all the way as roles they play . Other than the specific s&m acts involved... I can imagine it would warm most women's hearts to be so passionately desired . As distracting as the bad writing is, it is hard not to feel for this guy!

Oh yes, abusive love is the best...*runs to go and vomit* I am on here to read the funny poor reviews because that is as close to this book as any person should get!
Yeah, there is a difference between Romeo and Juliet and Fifty Shades of Grey big time. At least Romeo and Juliet had some kind of love. There is also a reason Fifty Shades of Grey is called "mommy phorn". I swear, what has the world come to. The book was horribly written making the abusive phorn scenes the only reason people like it.
LOVED it as well!! I found the free download online... Am having trouble finding the second one 'Fifty Shades Darker' can anyone help? TIA! :)
