I wasn't overly impressed with this one. It's cute, but not nearly as good as 'The Westing Game' or 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' though it draws a lot of influence from both. There are ducks, which are funny, but I don't find Leo as sympathetic a main character as Charlie or the wacky inhabitants of the Whippet as amusing as the residents of Sunset Towers. This is to be the first of a series, so I hope the characters all flesh out a lot more as it continues. But I don't think I was convinced to stick it out. I'll keep re-reading Ellen Raskin.
