This is a historical fiction book and is for the readers of the intermediate group. This book takes place in 1860-1861 off the coast of Delaware during the Civil War. Amelia's father loses his job as a ships captain because he was harboring a slave rebellion. He now works in a lighthouse where Amelia often helps him in hopes that the war will stop soon. I would use this book when talking about the Civil War.
