This is the first in the Harper Connelly novels. I really enjoy reading Charlaine Harris, although I have yet to venture into the Sookie Stackhouse books. I probably won't because at the moment vampires just aren't my thing. But this series is fascinating to me. Harper was 15 when she was struck by lightening and only the efforts of her stepbrother Tolliver saved her life. Since then she's able to sense the dead and their last moments, in particular, how they died. She uses this to make a living. She and Tolliver travel to places were people are trying to find their missing loved ones. Charlaine Harris makes it more interesting than I am. In this first book, they are in a little town in Arkansas or Alabama, I can't remember which. Harper finds the body of the girl who has been missing for a year or more, but she also causes a stir because her version of the death is not what the authorities have been saying. It was a good read.
