Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, #1)

Artemis Fowl is a genius criminal mastermind who is only twelve years old. This book describes his first encounter with the fairies, and his ingenious plan to steal their gold. Sounds dull when put that way, but trust me; it is not.
Artemis Fowl is a very well written novel; and although directed mainly at children, the book has a very intriguing plot and a lovely and funny style. The world in which this story is based is quite interesting too, fantasy creatures with the same names we always knew, but with somewhat new and interesting features. The rules on which this world is built (e.g. obtaining magic, losing magical powers, the rules in the book and all that stuff) make for very interesting situations in which require imagination. I liked it.
Actually, I must admit; I did not like it at first. In fact, I started reading it and then dropped it after reading a few pages, and returned to it months later. Even then, I started reading slowly until I finished almost third of the book. Only then did I start getting actually interested in the book, and finished the rest of it in one day. That’s common for me.
