What a terrific book.

Hard to believe this wasn't written immediately after Shards of Honor, because the latter flows so well into this one.

Like Shards, where Bujold really shines is in her extremely sympathetic and realistic characters.

Also, the tension between the Naismith's memories of the civilized Beta Colony contrast especially well with the more barbaric Barrayar. The brilliant thing about the book is that Barrayar is essentially earth as it is now, and Beta Colony is the earth we'd like to have. Its' a great way to envision the future.

Highly recommended, along with its predecessor. Can't wait to read more.
