Read in October, 2011

It's taken me over 30 years to finally read these two tales (I know, I split an infinitive there), and I probably could have waited even longer. As much as I like Tolkien, there isn't much to recommend here. "Smith of Wootton Major" may have inspired Gaiman's Stardust; there's a similar kind of journey there to the realm of Faerie, but it's just not that interesting.
