Eliza Cynster gets kidnapped at her sister's engagement party. She is drugged for three days straight and when she finally wakes up she is in a carriage half way across the country. She has only one way to escape, to catch someone's attention who will rescue her. Enter Jeremy Carling. You might remember him from a previous Lauren's novel, The Lady Chosen. He has grown up and is a scholar of the Sumerian script. Not exactly hero material but you never know what heights people can achieve when necessary.

I liked this one much better then the previous book. Huge improvement. I'm really looking forward to the third book in the series.
