A short, enjoyable read. It's nothing particularly deep and doesn't require a great deal of thought to follow or interpret. The only thing that vaguely got on my nerves were the occasionally overused triplet epithets that Dexter used to refer to himself (one of which is the title of the book) and the bizarrely sudden ending.

There were some really great witticisms, one of which actually gave me cause to stop and save it for later:
Weren't we all crazy in our sleep? What was sleep, after all, but the process by which we dumped our insanity into a dark subconscious pit and came out on the other side ready to eat cereal instead of our neighbor's children?

Based on this book I'll most likely check out Dearly Devoted Dexter, if only to find out what happens with Doakes.
