Eagle Strike (Alex Rider, #4)

by Anthony Horowitz
"Eagle Strike" is the fourth book in the Alex Rider series. Alex is a teenage, super secretive spy on the verge of saving the world - again. He is finally relaxing from another mission on a London beach with his friend Sabina when her vacation home explodes from a bomb being implanted inside. Sabina's father gets severely injured from the explosion and it is Alex's job to spring out into action and find the person who is behind all this trouble. During his search Alex finds out that the psychotic, rich environment freak, Damian Cray, is behind all of the scheming. The game is on, and Alex hurries to find out what Cray's evil plan is for the world, before it's too late.
"Eagle Strike" is an action-packed story that contains mystery and suspense. I love this book because it is very descriptively written and occasionally has calmer reading parts where you have time to make questions and predictions on what is going on. I liked the character Alex because he is a wise boy that knows all the tricks to sneaking around in the most discrete way. I also liked him for his cleverness and his ability to make such important decisions on a short notice. The rest of the characters made the story really hard to stop reading because they made it so fascinating. I think the plot of the story is very well developed and thought out. Once a person starts reading the book it is really hard to stop. I liked the conflict because it is one of those conflicts that are really hard to overcome. Alex had to work really hard to convince the world that the man they love is a madman bent on destruction. I believe the theme of the story is to expect the unexpected. I think the story has a good theme because it teaches people something that they don't usually do in life. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book to make a lot of predictions and active thinking because this book really makes a person use his or her brain.
