The secondary romance is a stunner! Too bad it is only revealed at the end of the book - I think it should have more of a front-and-centre place in the story, both on its own merits and because the romance between Laura and Stephen, the main couple, is rather ordinary in comparison.

The story drags in the middle of the book when Stephen and Laura are trying to figure out the blackmail plot and getting nowhere with it, and are also getting frustrated with each other because they're afraid to show their feelings - this situation goes on for way too many pages, IMHO. (To tell the truth, I almost set the book aside at one point where this situation started to get too draggy and the story had almost no momentum left, but I'm really glad I didn't.)
