I was impressed by the movie years ago when I was young. I believe I was one of many who watched this movie thinking it an animation about rabbits, and was horribly shocked to see all the blood. The book is less striking, but maybe that's because my memory made it larger than it is. The story starts out a little slow, but then picks up with constant action in the trials of simple life. The lives of the rabbits reaffirm that all tragedy and importance are relative. It is not as overtly symbolic as Animal Farm, but has similar characteristics. Rather than make situations reference human actions, they remain purely rabbit and in this way allow one to see humanity in a new light.
