Though I read Koontz every once-in-a-while, I had little patience for this one. It was waaay too long and needed a good, ruthless edit. The reader spends too much time in the view point of the repulsive villain. Some good stuff was here and there, but one has to wade through a virtual sea of ponderous description and analogies, similes and metaphors that don't work. I like some of his other books, so I won't give up on Koontz, but I hope he reins himself in.
