really liked it
bookshelves: scifi-fantasy, read-in-2008, re-read, read-in-2012

Genre: Fantasy

Be careful when you the trade paperback version of this novel published by Luna - in my copy pages 300-322 were replaced by a second copy of pages 200-222. Very frustrating!

This novel has much of the feel of the vampire-and-warewolves novels set in modern america; which is odd, as it's set in a completely fantasy setting, with non-standard non-human races. However, it is something of a murder-mystery with magic, and the heroine has apparently unique and not particularly understood (by her or anyone around her) powers and is a member of the local police force. She also seems to be trailing along a bevy of cute men... so it does have many of the qualities of that new genre. Although, it is not by any streach erotica - Kaylin's relations with the men in her life have been chaste, so far.
