I thought that I would have a special affinity with this author and really appreciate this book since I so proudly colored a picture of Jesus purple when I was a young child doing crafts in vacation bible school, but alas I was completely disappointed. Sure, I understand the point of "thinking outside the box" and being creative, and yes, the pictures were colored very nicely with wild, vivid colors, but there was no accompanying story, which is a big disappointment especially since the book is meant for children. Without a story or at least an explanation or a call to action in words kids could understand, telling them to be different, the shockingly colored animals weren't all that exciting and even lost their meaning.
