Was this book entertaining? Yes. But it was extremely gory and it had the worst cliff hanger ending that I've come across in a while. The main character lacks any real personality, and makes strange, inexplicable decisions for the obvious benefit of the plot. This book also takes too much on. There's a zombie uprising, there's a love triangle (let me vomit now, I am so over this), and then the protagonist ends up on a crazy religious compound (I am also over this plot device). But I will say this: some of the writing is beautiful. The sensory perception of the main character is described a fresh way that made me smile through the gore. I might recommend this to an adult after the second book comes out, so they won't be upset by the cliff hanger, but until then, I'm going to stay silent on this one.
