liked it
bookshelves: good-southern-fiction
Recommended for: Honorary Southern Belles

remember this??? such a good first novel... i liked it so much, i bought her other 2 collections, which--i admit--were not as good. but i also liked them for very different reasons. this one, too, was made into a movie; and, in fact, we took emma to see it when she was still young enough to sit in her stroller the entire time. Ya-Ya! so, yeah, i liked it A Lot. good southern fiction, indeed.

Quotes lee lee Liked

Rebecca Wells
“She longed for porch friendship, for the sticky, hot sensation of familiar female legs thrown over hers in companionship. She pined for the girliness of it all, the unplanned, improvisational laziness. She wanted to soak the words 'time management' out of her lexicon. She wanted to hand over, to yield, to let herself float down the unchartered beautiful fertile musky swamp of life, where creativity and eroticism and deep intelligence dwell.”
