Forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan is called to a local landfill, (which just happens to be next to the Charlotte Motor Speedway, where Race Week begins the following day) where a body is found in a barrel of asphalt. This leads to a visit from a speedway employee and the story of a twelve year old disappeance that was written off as two kids running away to be with one another, even though no one has heard from either one since their disappearance.

From here the story twists and turns, until Temperance finds herself drugged and about to be murdered.....

As always, Reichs managesto keep her readers guessing. Definately a book to put on your list to read!
