it was amazing
bookshelves: comics

Ostensibly about the 'Jack the Ripper' murders, Moore sidesteps the trite conventions of a 'historical fiction whodunnit' to present a complex vision of occultism, history, vice, and madness. Eddie Campbell's line-heavy art style reinforces the 19th century subject matter perfectly. As to be expected with any story about prostitution and murder, From Hell is not for the faint of heart, but it is definitely my favorite work by Moore.
