short book but I lost patience and didn't finish it.

two people married with children and with their own lives meet up in the same area they used to be decades previously when they were in a relationship and in which they committed a hit and run and never got caught. They start an email correspondence which goes on about how strange it was to meet up again and going over the past. The language is very literary and philosophical and it's hard for me to believe anyone writes such emails. Yeah it's about morality and life and creation and got deep meanings blah blah blah but the whole book is this email correspondence as far as I can see and too over the top for me - just get over yourselves!
