i got this as an audiobook. i love love love audiobooks, probably some left over comfort of childhood, this love of being read to. the thing about david rakoff is that his voice and the way he speaks is SO PRETENTIOUS. kind of outrageously so. like a snooty prissy faggot. which he basically is. but he is also really smart and brilliantly funny. so i don't know exactly how the book would have been had i read it instead of heard it. but if you get past his speaking voice, this book is smart and funny. and yes, a little bit snooty and prissy and faggy. the thing is, he knows it and that seems to make it okay.
