Appaloosa (Virgil Cole & Everett Hitch, #1)
by Robert B. Parker
by Robert B. Parker
I have to admit, when our Book Club had to read this book I was not entirely enthusiastic or looking forward to it. Infact it was a book I thought I might not read at all. BUT everyone said it was a quick read and that they were enjoying it, so I borrowed a copy the week of our meeting. I finished it in 2 1/2 days and loved it (okay so it could probably be read in a day if that was all you did that day)! It is a nice easy read and the characters are enjoyable and easy to get to know (doesn't take 1/4 of the book to figure out who's who). I very much enjoyed the "code" which Virgil chooses to live by - I wish I had the ability to stand my ground without flinching when it comes to parenting! I admired how, although Everette & Cole wound up on separate sides of the law with certain individuals, they knew when to join forces and work for the common good, then set a date to "revisit" the issue that brought them together in the first place. I enjoyed the relationship between Everette and Virgil, and that unspoken bond they have. INFACT I enjoyed this book so much...I went and checked out "Blue Eyed Devil" and have been reading it aloud to my hubby, who is also now enjoying this duo of crime fighting cowboys.
