This is the first book in a brand-new imprint meant to showcase new voices in speculative fiction as well as a first novel for the author, who is a video
game writer/designer. This really made for a creepy Halloween read I have to say.

Jacob Logan escaped small town North Carolina life for the big city of Boston. Like we all do, he continually promised his folks he'd come back to visit, and they held the belief that he would return home for good right through to their deaths. Things turn sour for Jacob in Beantown and he's left with little choice other than to tuck tail and head for his parents empty farmhouse to regroup and figure out his life. Except the house isn't exactly empty and strange things begin to happen to and around Jacob.

This book is part mystery, part psychological thriller, part ghost story. I found it extremely difficult to put down even as I wandered around the house locking doors and windows, turning on lights and considering the promises I'VE made.
