Wonderfully amusing and self-aware romp through the centuries. From Woolf's grasp of the zeigeists of different periods in British history to her arch comments on men, women, and sex, there are great brains to go with the light touch. A sort of Italo Calvino-like lightness--or maybe Calvino has a Woolf-like lightness?

And the pictures! Wonderful fakeries, slyly captioned.
