I pushed this book forward on my list after seeing the preview for what looks to be a throwaway movie and wanting to get the good vibes I had heard about from it before it was tainted. I found myself judging it as simple, and hardly engaging, but then truly attached to the silly, troubled dog in the end. It is a simple story - but a sweet and touching one that anyone with a beloved pet can identify with. Not as deep or as meaningful as most other books I like to read, but still poignant and thoughtful. Aging and loss is not fun - animal or human.
