This isn't so much a book as it is a collection of documents with a few annotations mixed in. That being said, it's an important collection of documents that all U.S. History teachers should read. Throughout my entire schooling I was told that the causes of the Civil War were multiple and complex, and that the Confederate cause couldn't be characterized as simply protecting slavery. These documents help bust the "State's Rights" myth and expose the "Lost Cause" as a pro-slavery movement, period. Highly recommended if you're in to U.S. History.
