This book was much talked about and recommended through Borders Bookclub. But I have to say, it wasn't my favorite. Maybe it was all the hype or the genre that I liked, so I thought I would definitely like it. And maybe it was a let down after just reading American Pastoral.
At any rate, the book tells 2 stories in one, and at the end 1 character ties the entire book together. It begins right after D-Day and then progresses through the trials of the German officers. It's a coming of age book for a Welsh woman & the happenings of one German soldier, as well as a German Jew who is high up in the British intelligence.
