it was amazing

I really enjoyed this book--it is set during the time of the Jewish-Roman war, during the fall of Jerusalem (70AD), and the last Jewish rebel community at Masada. What is interesting is Hoffman wrote this book during an artist in residence time at Brandeis University, and really did her research. It is truly a historical novel--told by the point of view of women. My only critique is that the voice of four women who tell the story is very similar, so the narration is seamless, if you will--but the voices could have been a little more interesting. Despite that, I still thought it was a great book, and would recommend it--especially if you are interested in that time period!
