Oh, my goodness, what a horribly difficult book to read. Much like "A Child Called It" in it's description of unimaginable horrors that some children face, this book is different in it's perspective (it is told by the teacher of the young child) and this effects the general feel of the book. It is much easier to read--yes, while still being difficult--because we are separate from the one being abused...we are watching through the eyes of an onlooker, which makes it somehow more manageable.

I would recommend this book to any teacher who struggles with a challenging student or child.

Very powerful book.
