Joëlle Anthony shares the story of Jamie, a young girl struggling through some very difficult and rather unusual circumstances. Jamie's father has become entangled in a cult and as a result, she finds herself out on the street with few obvious resources. The story kept me on my toes and rooting for Jamie as she tries to find a job, find a place to live, and still stay in school. She has plenty of flaws, but shows a lot of strength and adaptability throughout. I love that Anthony writes about strong female characters that don't just give up or run away when things get tough.
