Gordy (my 13-year-old) and I both read this book in the last few days. I liked Alexie's writing; to me, it was somewhat reminiscent of the tone of the narrator in Jennifer Choldenko's "Al Capone Does My Shirts," which I also liked---although Alexie uses a lot more profanity (but maybe the scenarios and character environments in this book call for that). Gordy thought it was maybe a 5-star read. Good messages, lots to think about, well delivered. I LOVED the book's last line. Wish I could write a book as good as this one and come up with a line to end it that would be as effective!
