It's not a bad book, it gives you n idea of what is going on and the like, but I have to say it felt like it was all over the place. You learn about the main female character in the book Pierce and what has happened to her and then about a boy called John that she met when she was seven years old.
You get to know Pierce which is grand but the other characters such as her cousin Alex and even John are just a bit... Well bland, there is nothing to them at all and as an introduction to the series I kinda expected better, this doesn't make me want to read the other's that have come out because the only character who has really come to life is Pierce and that isn't a good thing, bland secondary characters aren't something to keep a reader interested.

I gave it 3 stars because it is an unusual concept and it is different, but it needs a bit more attention and care with the other characters that take part.
