Dog on It (A Chet and Bernie Mystery, #1)
by Spencer Quinn (Goodreads Author)

At its simplest, this book is a very generic mystery. What draws most people into reading it? Most likely the cutesy premise of a man and a dog, with some detective-based excitement thrown in. And really, that is about all you can expect from this book.
Interesting? Not especially. Well-written? Mediocre. Length? Average. Personally, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. It isn't terrible, and it's a short read, and from the dog's perspective, it's about head-on with about what you would expect. However, the dog's narration often seems an excuse to cover points about law or detective work that the author didn't understand, or was too lazy to research, because there are several points when the characters discuss key points in the case/plot, but Chet gets bored or wanders off to do things dogs do- this highly annoyed me, simply because those are key plot points and the main reason why a person reads a book: for the interesting story.
Overall: If you come across this book in a library or cheap bookstore, and you have time to spare, you may want to read it. However, I would strongly recommend Play Dead (Andy Carpenter Series, #6)
by David Rosenfelt as a replacement.
