Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art
by Scott McCloud
i didn't really find it that dense myself, but i think it's an interesting perspective to take. i had to read it for a class, though, so i'm sure i was paying extra close attention as i read it. not only that but we read it over the course of the whole semester so i had plenty of time to think it over. i think it's cool that you re-read it. do you read comics? i had no idea.
Perhaps dense is not the perfect word, but I did find it a lot to absorb quickly. I think this was mostly due to the fact that I read it very fast (in a bit over a day) and because I know nothing about art in any form. I have never taken an art class or read a book about art - I've never really taken the time to think that critically about art. The equivalent might be if you read a legal text very quickly, which would not seem dense to me, but would likely seem impenetrable to you (and to most normal people who are not law nerds like me...lol).
I do read comics/graphic novels, although this is a relatively recent development in my reading (given that I've been reading since I was very little). I read my first graphic novel in 2003 by accident, and I have a lot of friends who are into comics/gns so have been reading more as of late.

This graphic novel is so dense that I am currently re-reading it, as I think only a re-read will do it justice.
