Might just be down to my mojo being a bit out of tune at the moment, but I didn't enjoy this one half as much as I expected to. It's a nice enough read, and the device of Ella picking up the stories of her sitters as she paints their portraits is cleverly done. But at times I thought there were too many characters and stories on the go, particularly when I hadn't been particularly hooked by her relationship with Nate nor the reappearance of her father. What really spoiled it for me were the long sections of dialogue - no-one ever seems to actually do anything, just tell people about it, and that wears over time. Not a bad book at all, but just not quite as good as it should have been.
