Quirky and funny. The mystery is very average and predictable in a way. But the characters are interesting and lively. We have the paternal, older man that married a very young and weak woman and bullies her to depression. We have the son from a first marriage infatuated with a show girl. And what a show girl, Lola. Appropriately named. She's a wonderfully callous character. I loved her. I loved Dinah, the strong independent woman from which eyes we mostly follow the action. The Yard man is quirky and a flirt. Not the best Heyer mystery's I've read but still interesting.
