it was amazing

This book was hard to put down. It almost gave me nightmares it was so powerful. I probably would say it is definitely for the over 12 year old set since some of the sexual imagery is fairly graphic. It is a great cautionary tale about how naive young teens are until they go to the school of hard knocks. Unfortunately, in the world of online chats and sexual predators many girls never live to learn from their experience. The main character Abby is a smart but lonely girl and it is easy to understand why she becomes addicted to a chatroom where she can talk to her new online boyfriend. He knows all the right things to say to make her feel good about herself. What makes the book interesting is that some of the chapters are written from the viewpoint of other characters: the sister, the best friend, and the boy in Science class that has a crush on her. The ending is anticlimactic and a bit heavy handed as a lesson in dealing with the aftermath of a soiled reputation in a high school environment. As an adult I can see many things that are unrealistic but it is well done for the audience it is trying to reach. This is a YA book after all, and the positive ending with friends growing closer, sisters appreciating each other more, and a main character that has overcome many personal challenges and grown from them will be spot on for young teens, especially girls. Hopefully it will keep some teens from making some of the same mistakes. It is hard to understand how precious privacy is until you lose it. If you don't want people seeing your naked breast on the internet than for goodness sake keep your shirt on!
