David Wisp, are you mad at me for disrespeckin' A Time of Gifts? Show me some love, you jew wannabe!

Bram I'll show you some man-love, but we're celebrating Sukkot over here so show some respect! I figured you didn't have to time to socialize these days since you're reading about 10 books a week, you little NYRB ad-factory. What's your secret, Adderall?

David What's your secret, Adderall?

My secret is that most of them are, like, 120 - 150 pages. Basically, I'm cheating. I heard all the choice chicks dig a guy with a huge bookshelf.

What the fuck is Sukkot? Sounds like it sukks, whatever it is. You need to return to your marginalized Gentile heritage, Wispy.

Bram I'm not really sure, but lemons are involved.

I need to read more short books; for some reason I started all these series (Cairo Trilogy, Alexandria Quartet, Rabbit, Ice and Fire, Crusades history) and now my pleasure reading has become a daunting to-do list. That's the main reason I picked up Orlando. How do you choose your NYRB books? Post-research or randomly? I've never heard of any of these books, but that might be because I'm becoming a desert hick.

David It's a very scientific process.

1. I get bored at work.
2. I think to myself, 'What website (non-porn division) can I visit at work to kill some time?' 'How about NYRB?' 'Okay, self, good idea.'
3. I go through every book in the NYRB Classics collection, paying special attention to the ones with purty covers.
4. I glance through the descriptions in an attempt to find the ones that aren't horrible bores. (See also Fermor.)
5. In a bout of frivolous, thoughtless spending, I go to Amazon and order a bunch of them.

I've been pretty lucky so far. I haven't tripped over any miserably awful ones (in this batch) except Fermor.
