I really enjoyed this, and his emphasis on reading for pleasure was a good reminder for me, as I have a tendency to worry about all the good books that I Should have read and never will have time for if I don't Get Moving. I found his reminders to Slow Down, to make real notes in the margins rather than just underline (which is what I tend to do), and to read with a charitable attitude toward the book very valuable. I think he was a little dismissive of the value of book clubs, but maybe he has had bad luck in that department. My next book (so much for Whim, which Jacobs recommends) is The Shallows, by Carr, and I think I'll be glad that I read Jacobs's book first.
