First off, and this is not a detriment to the book or series, this book has nothing to do with a sports agent, the sports world or sports in general. Sure, the main character is a sports agent, but he could just as easily been a florist and the book would not have changed. That being said, this book is a mystery-thriller. And a very good one at that.

I am/was very impressed that Coben was able to keep the series alive after so many books. I mean, I didn't expect to be this many books into a series about a sports agent that solves crime and still be enjoying the characters or plots. But to do this, Coben had to step away from the sports-agent side of things.

The tension has been ratcheted up by making the mystery more personal to Myron. We get to dig a little deeper into what he will and will not do for the ones he loves, which he has struggled with the past few books, and we get a plot that feels like it comes straight from one of Coben's non-Bolitar books (which is a good thing for me).

The only thing that keeps this from being a five star book for me is the ending. It is not that it is unsatisfying, just hard to follow. I got the gist of what I was being told, but it hinged on so many minor points seeded innocuously throughout the book and large leaps of logic and conjecture that I felt that as long as I found out who-done-it, I didn't care how I got to the conclusion. There were two, maybe three twists at the end (as are standard in Coben's books), but any one of them would have satisfied me, but the next one to follow did not impress or shock me more than the one before. As much as I usually like the multi-twist endings, this book could have stood alone with just the first one.

A very good read that makes we eager for the next one.
