13 Treasures by Michelle Harrison, is a fascinating story that features fourteen year old Tanya who lives in London. The story tells about her life, dealing with troublesome fairies. All her life, Tanya has been experiencing the appearances of these creatures that are unseen to the normal human eye. Her mission is to find out why she sees them, and if she is the only one. Because of the disturbances of these fairies, Tanya is sent to stay with her grandmother, at the Elvesden Manor, in the Essex country. The manor has belonged to her family for many years, and it is full of secrets, as well as the woods surrounding it. Throughout the story, Tanya risks everything, as she solves the puzzles that she has wanted to answer all her life. This book was worth reading because it kept me turning the pages, wanting all the time, to know what was going to happen next. The theme of this book was that if you believe in yourself, you can accomplish great things. This is because of how Tanya never gave up, and how she was always trying throughout the book, no matter what people said about her actions.
